TOURISM
It is probably one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, thanks to its ‘kilometre zero’ marker, the famous statue of ‘the Bear and the Strawberry Tree’, the well-known ‘Tío Pepe’ advert, the equestrian statue of Charles III, and the clock on the Casa de Correos, from which the New Year’s Eve chimes are heard throughout Spain

Spain
Prado National Museum
Without a doubt, it is one of Madrid’s greatest attractions, as it is one of the most important art galleries in Europe and the world. Some of its most significant works include: *La Maja Desnuda*, *Las Meninas*, *The Garden of Earthly Delights*, *The Three Graces* and *The Surrender of Breda*. The Prado Museum forms part of the so-called ‘Art Triangle’, which also includes the Reina Sofía Museum (known for Picasso’s ‘Guernica’) and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum. The Prado is open every day of the week. For further information on opening times and admission prices, please visit: http://www.museodelprado.es/.
Royal Palace
This imposing building, the official residence of the King and Queen of Spain, combines Baroque and Classical elements and was built in the 18th century. It is one of the largest royal palaces in Europe and is surrounded by magnificent gardens. It is well worth a visit inside.
Almudena Cathedral
Just a few metres from the Royal Palace stands this imposing neo-Gothic cathedral. It has a very distinctive style and attracts many visitors throughout the year.
El Retiro
The Buen Retiro Gardens are regarded as the capital’s ‘lungs’, as Madrid’s largest and most important park. Peace and tranquillity come together in this charming spot, which is notable for its pond and the Crystal Palace.
Gran Vía
It is Madrid’s main thoroughfare. Along its 1,500 metres, there are cinemas, theatres, shops and notable buildings.
Plaza Mayor
Situated right in the heart of the city, near the Puerta del Sol, the Plaza Mayor dates back to the 15th century, when the town’s main market was held there. Be sure to visit the coat of arms of Charles II, the Arco de Cuchilleros and the statue of Philip III.
Alcalá Gate
A true icon of the city ever since Charles III ordered its construction. Grand and solemn, it captivates all who visit it.
Debod and Parque del Oeste
This ancient Egyptian temple was a gift from Egypt to Spain in 1968 in recognition of the assistance provided during the UNESCO campaign to save the temples of Nubia, which were under threat from the construction of the Aswan Dam. Of inestimable beauty and value, it is situated very close to Parque del Oeste, making it the perfect spot for a stroll without straying too far from the centre of Madrid.
Paseo de la Castellana
At 6.5 km, it is one of the longest streets in Madrid. It is not particularly popular with tourists, as it is used as a main thoroughfare for traffic, but on both sides of the street there are some of Madrid’s main attractions, such as the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, the Nuevos Ministerios complex, the Cuatro Torres and the Kio Towers.
FEEDBACK FROM OUR CUSTOMERS
A very centrally located hotel, with very friendly staff; the flat was fully equipped, refurbished, spacious and very clean. We’ll definitely stay there again when we return to Madrid. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended.
A very centrally located hotel, with very friendly staff; the flat was fully equipped and refurbished, spacious and spotlessly clean. We’ll definitely be staying here again when we return to Madrid. We’d just come from a flat that turned out to be in a terrible state, and at 9 pm they managed to find us a room so we could stay with our 5-month-old baby, our 5-year-old and our two little dogs.
They got the room ready for us in no time at all, the service was excellent and the hotel is brilliant.
We’ll definitely be back without a second thought. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended.
Everything was perfect – a place I’d definitely go back to time and time again. It was clean, the staff were incredibly friendly, and whatever I asked for or needed was no problem at all; they catered to my needs. I’ve booked for another day – I simply have to go back, as the place is perfect. It’s a pleasure to visit places like this – thank you for everything.
The flat turned out to be much better than we’d expected – comfortable, clean and spacious. Great location. Perfect for travelling with dogs. We’ll definitely be back.
